The process of soap making is quite simple but requires care and caution when handling the lye solution. Soap is made by combining oils, butters, and a lye solution. It is enhanced by adding essential oils or fragrances, along with clays and colors. Soap is then poured into molds and allowed to set for up to 48 hours. It is then removed from the mold and cut and placed on drying racks to dry for 5 to 6 weeks. This allows most of the moisture (water) to evaporate and the bars to harden.

There are two types of body butters, Whipped Body Butter is 100% natural and completely oil and butter based, while Body Butter is a rich moisturizer that is a water based emulsified blend that works wonders on dry skin then needs intense rehydration.

Whipped Body Butters are a decadent treat for your skin. They are made by combining oils and butter by melting them slowly over a double boiler. They are then cooled in a deep freezer for a short period and then whipped to airy perfection. They are then piped into jars and labeled. A little goes a very long way with whipped body butters. Mica can be added to create a shimmering glow.

Emulsified Body Butters are made by emulsifying butters and oil with water. Because these formulas are water based, many beneficial extracts and nutrients can be added to benefit different skin types. They are more stable in extreme weather environments. These types of body butter do contain preservatives to prevent bacterial growth because they contain water.

Sugar scrubs are a great way to remove dead skin cells and create smooth skin. Sugar scrubs can be made from a foaming soap base or oil based. Foaming sugar scrubs wash away clean leaving not oily finish, while oil-based scrubs can leave oils on the skin once washed away.

Foaming sugar scrubs are made using a foaming soap base that is whipped along with oils, glycerin, and fragrance to airy perfection. Up to 50% sugar or salt is added along with colorful micas for an excellent exfoliator.

*Oil based scrubs are a combination of oils and sugars. This is usually how lip scrubs are made, except for the addition of essential oils or flavor oils.

Lip Balms are great little powerful hits of great moisture, especially if you live in a very dry environment or in cold areas that use heating for homes. These lip butters are a blend of bee’s wax, butters, oils and flavor oil that are melted together and poured into little tubs and allowed to set. These lip butters contain kukui nut butter that is amazing for your skin. They apply super smoothly and keep your lips moist for hours. As always, lip moisture starts with staying hydrated, but lip butters allow you to seal in that moisture and maintain super smooth lips.

Lips scrubs are made using a simple list of ingredients, which are sugar, oil, natural butter, beeswax, or emulsifying wax, of your choice flavoring oil or essential oils. We always use a formula to ensure our scrubs are balanced and will not separate into an oily mess. The oils, butters and waxes are melted over low heat in a double boiler. The flavor oil, color and sugar is then added and allowed to cool. Once cool these gentle scrubs are piped into 1 oz or 1/2 oz glass jars and labeled.

Bath bombs are made from a combination of dry ingredients like baking soda, citric acid, kaolin clay, Epsom salts, and wet ingredients like carrier oils, essential oils, certified dyes, and skin safe fragrance oils. Once combined, these ingredients create a fizzing reaction when dropped in water that creates a therapeutic bath experience. To make a bath bomb, the dry ingredients are mixed with a wet ingredient, which helps bind the dry ingredients together. This mixture is then poured and compressed into a mold to form the bath bomb. Once the bath bombs dry, they are ready to use.

Salt soaks are a great way to help relax and rejuvenate your body. To make salt soaks for the bath, we use a selection of course Sea Salts, Dead Sea Salts, Pink Himalayan Salt, and Epsom Salt. Herbal additives that can be added are dried lavender, Chamomile, Calendula, Rose and other dried herbs and flowers. Our bath salts are scented with high quality essential oils for a great aromatherapy experience. The salt and herbs will help soothe your body, while the essential oils provide an added layer of relaxation.

Shower steamers are small discs of soothing fragrances that when placed in the bottom of the shower, fill the room with an uplifting aroma. They are made primarily of baking soda, citric acid, essential oil, and mica; additionally, menthol crystals can be added to create a rich aroma for certain essential oil blends. The baking soda and citric acid are mixed until they reach a fine powder consistency. Then essential oils are added and mixed until the oil is evenly distributed. The colored mica is also mixed into the powder mixture, allowing the product to retain a vibrant color. Finally, the powder is sprayed with a small amount of water to help all the ingredients bind together. This mixture is then quickly spread into molds or pressed into shapes. Once allowed to dry, the shower steamers can then be used in the shower to fill the room with a pleasant fragrance.

Candles made with plant-based waxes offer a beautiful and natural aesthetic. To make these candles, the wax is first melted in a double boiler or wax melting pot. Scent is added when the wax cools to below the recommended level, which can vary by scent. Then the wax and scent is poured into wicked vessels and allowed to cool overnight. Freshly poured candles are then allowed to cure for at least two weeks so that the scents can bloom and develop.
